Do you feel alone in your healing journey?

1 in 4 women experience domestic abuse at some point in our lifetimes. 1 in 4… That statistic alone is staggering. How many women do I encounter in a day? Thinking about that makes me look at people with more compassion. Over all 1 in 5 adults experience domestic abuse.  All the memes about: you never know what someone is going through so if you can be anything, be kind has a whole greater meaning.

The loneliness that is crippling both while in the toxic relationship and even when you are out is unbearable. We are designed for connection and relationship. There are so many different scriptures in the bible that illustrate this.

After living with domestic violence for so many years and getting out I quickly saw that people that had never experienced it couldn’t understand the turmoil I was going through in my everyday life. The triggers I experienced at what seemed like such random moments. I knew I was safe but the years it took me to get to a happy place in my life were some of the hardest. I needed someone to talk to, but I didn’t want to dwell on the past and I felt like counseling or therapy wasn’t what I needed. I didn’t know about life coaches and what they offer. I now know Christian life coaching is just what would have made my healing journey so much easier.

Life Coach vs. Christian Life Coach

Life Coach

  • Foundation: May employ various secular theories and practices based on psychology, personal development, and other fields.
  • Approach: Primarily focuses on empowering clients to tap into their own inner resources and strengths to create change.
  • Suitable For: Individuals seeking general guidance and support in achieving specific goals, regardless of their religious beliefs.

Christian Life Coach

  • Focus: Guides clients toward achieving personal and spiritual growth, aligning their goals with their faith and biblical principles.
  • Foundation: Rooted in Christian teachings and values, using the Bible as a primary source of wisdom and guidance.
  • Approach: Emphasizes prayer, spiritual practices, and seeking God’s guidance in the coaching process. Views challenges as opportunities for spiritual growth and reliance on God.
  • Suitable For: Christians who want to integrate their faith into their personal development journey and seek guidance that aligns with their spiritual beliefs.

Disclaimer: This blog is dedicated to the survivors of domestic violence. It does not provide resources or advice for leaving an abusive situation. If you are in immediate danger or need help escaping, please reach out to National Domestic Abuse Hotline.

Key Differences Summarized:

  • Foundation: Secular vs. Christian principles and teachings.
  • Approach: Inner resources and strengths vs. spiritual practices and seeking God’s guidance.
  • Goal Alignment: General personal or professional goals vs. goals aligned with faith and spiritual values.
  • Target Audience: Broad and inclusive vs. specifically caters to Christians.

In essence: A life coach helps you achieve your goals, while a Christian life coach helps you achieve your goals in a way that honors God and deepens your faith.
